Learning from the Best: David’s Summer Internship with Robert Burns
This summer, David’s been diving headfirst into the world of luxury wedding photography through an incredible internship with one of Charlotte’s top photographers, Robert Burns.
And when we say diving in, we mean it. On just his second day, David hit the road with Robert to a wedding in Fayetteville, a beautiful vow renewal that turned into a huge learning opportunity. Robert, who not only shoots high-end weddings but also recently launched his own bridal magazine, has made a name for himself in the luxury wedding scene. Getting to shadow someone so respected in the industry has been such a gift.
At the wedding, Robert didn’t just have David stand on the sidelines, he gave him real opportunities to shoot, helping him practice and perfect the types of shots that are staples in luxury wedding albums. From mastering lighting in fast-moving moments to learning how to read the room and connect with clients, David soaked up every bit of it.
More than anything, he got to see what it really takes to work in the wedding world: the attention to detail, the pace, the emotion, and the energy. It was the kind of hands-on learning that can’t be taught in a classroom, and David had a blast.
This fall, David will be attending even more weddings alongside Robert, continuing to grow and sharpen his skills with each experience. We’re so proud of the growth we’ve already seen in him and can’t wait to see how this journey shapes his work with Still Sunday Media.
